The Bilkeshwar Temple Haridwar or Bilvkeshwar Mahadev Temple is one of the famous temples of Haridwar City of Uttarakhand State. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and his wife Devi Parvati and is located on the Mount Bilva. This temple is situated only a short distance from Har Ki Pauri Haridwar. Due to Shiva’s summer capital, there is a huge gathering of Shiva devotees in summer. This ancient temple is very famous among local people. It is surrounded by green trees from around. There is a crowd of people in the temple who believe in Lord Shiva. Saints and sages also live in the temple premises. Lord Shiva is pleased with worshiping in this temple with a true heart and gives blessings to his devotees.

History of Bilkeshwar Temple Haridwar
It is said that at this place, Goddess Parvati had done penance for 3000 years to get Shiva. It is said that Mother Parvati used to wipe out her appetite by eating Bilva leaves during her penance. But when the problem of drinking water came to her Lord Brahma himself, on the request of the Gods create a trunk near the temple which is known as Gauri Kund. It is believed that during her penance, Mata Parvati used to take bath in this Kund.
Lord Shiva was pleased with the worship of Goddess Parvati and asked her for a boon and then Devi Parvati asked for a boon to accept herself as his wife.
Bilva is a tree which is sacred to the people of Hindu religion and Lord Shiva is pleased by the offering of this tree leaves. Its leaves show the three eyes of Lord Shiva. Today there is the same Shivling in the temple which was established by Goddess Parvati.

Bilkeshwar Temple Haridwar Timing
Lord Shiva is worshiped twice a day in this temple. Early in the morning, Jalabhishek (water offering) of Shivling is done with the water of the Gaurikund first and after that Shiva’s makeup is done. The morning Aarti time is stats fro 5:00 am and the evening Arti time is 6:00 pm.
When Goddess Parvati was doing penance in this place, she did not get the water to drink. On the request of the Gods, Lord Brahma exclude water stream from his Kamandal (A water pot used by saints.), which created a trunk near the Bilkeshwar Mahadev Temple. Today this trunk is known as Gauri Kund and it is 50 meters away from Bilkeshwar Mahadev Temple.
How to reach Bilkeshwar Temple Haridwar
From Haridwar railway station this temple can be reached by foot it is just 500 meters away from the Haridwar Railway Station. The nearest airport is Jolly grant airport, which is 39 km far from Bilkeshwar Temple Haridwar. Daily flights from New Delhi and Mumbai are available to Jolly Grant. After reaching Jolly Grant the devotees can hire a cab to reach the temple.
