Danda Nagaraja Temple

Danda Nagaraja Temple is located in Uttarakhand’s Pauri district. This temple is popular among devotees and tourists for its mythology. Danda Nagaraja Temple is about 140 years old.

This temple is located 38 kilometers from Pauri on the Advani-Baganikhal motorway, in Laserra village of Banelsyun Patti. This temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna.

Surrounded by dense trees of Oaks, Rhododendron, and Pine, this temple is a famous tourist and religious site of Pauri Garhwal. This temple is situated on a hill,  this place offers a beautiful view of the hills of Chandrabadni, Bhairavgarh, and Kandoliya. At the same time, it also provides a glimpse of the nearby villages in the valley.

According to mythology, it is believed that Lord Krishna had transformed the form of a snake at this place. As the name suggests, ‘Danda’ means ‘Hill’ and ‘Nagaraja’ means ‘Snake’, from that time the temple started to be known as Danda Nagaraja.

A huge fair is organized every year on the occasion of Vaisakhi in April month. In this fair, thousands of devotees come here to visit. As a feast, the devotees offer Jaggery (Gur) to Danda Nagraja Devta.

How to reach Danda Nagraja Temple

This temple is located 38 kilometers from Pauri town and 49 kilometers from Devprayag. One can reach this place by taxi or bus from Pauri. Due to the narrow road, this place can be reached by taxi from Devprayag.

If you are coming here from your own vehicle, please bring an experienced driver with you, because the roads here are too narrow and pudding-filled.

The nearest railway station from Danda Nagraja is Kotdwara railway station which is 100 km far from this place.

The nearest airport from this temple is Jolly Grant airport, Dehradun which is 133 km far from this place.
