Dayara Bugyal is one of the most beautiful places in Uttarakhand. In the summer season, greenery is scattered all over here, while in winter there is snow all around, which attracts the trekkers and that is why people from all over the country came here for trekking. This Bugyal is situated at an altitude of 12,000 feet (3500 meters) above sea level and spread over 28 square kilometers area. This whole place provides a 360-degree view of Himalaya ranges. This paradise-like place is located at 8 km walking distance from Barsu Village of Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand.

How to start Dayara Bugyal trek

First Day: Dehradun – Uttarkashi – Barsu: Uttarkashi is located 190 km far from Dehradun and Barsu village is 4o km away from Uttarkashi, this whole distance can be covered in one day. Second Day: Barsu – Barnala Tal: Barnala Tal is 4 km far from Barsu Village, it takes 2-4 Hours to cover this distance. Third Day: Barnala Tal – Dayara Bugyal: This trek is 4 km long and takes 2-4 hours to cover this distance. Fourth Day: Dayara Bugyal – Bakaria Top: This trek 3 km long and takes 2-3 hours to cover this distance. Fifth Day: Bakaria top – Dayara Bugyal – Barnala Tal – Barsu – Uttarkashi Sixth Day: Uttarkashi – Dehradun

Things to remember during Dayara Bugyal trek

  • Do not trek at night – You can wander the route while trekking at night.
  • Consult your doctor- Due to high altitude, this place may cause oxygen problems. Therefore it is important to take the advice of your doctor before going to Barnala.
  • Take water bottles and some energy bars with you before leaving the for Dayara.
  • Do not wear canvas shoes during winter trek.
  • Plan your journey.

Dayara Bugyal trek cost

If you are tracking by online booking, there will be an individual cost of around ₹7000. But if you go by yourself then you will have to spend ₹2000-2500 each. In January 2018, we 4 people went to Dayara. We started our journey from Dehradun. We stayed there for 2 nights and our total expenditure came to ₹7000 approx.

Snow is all around here in winters season. The minimum temperature here is -15 degree and the maximum 6 degree and the snow remains up to 2 feet.  

How to reach Dayara Bugyal

The journey of Dayara Bugyal starts from Dehradun district of Uttarakhand. One can reach Dehradun or Rishikesh via rail or airplane. Dehradun airport and railway route are well connected to many major cities of the country. Buses and taxis are easily available from Dehradun or Rishikesh to Uttarkashi by 12 o’clock. After reaching Uttarkashi, you either stay in Uttarkashi and leave for the next day or leave for Raithal or Barsu Village. Raithal is 40 km far from Uttarkashi and Barsu is 43 km from Uttarkashi. Dayara Bugyal trekking starts from Barasu Village. Dayara is 8 km far from Barsu Village and 6 km far from Raithal Village. There is also a place called Barnala Tal in the middle while going to Dayara along the way through Barsu village. It works as a campsite for trekkers.
