Jim Corbett national park zones
There are 6 zones in Jim Corbett National Park and each zone have a different entry gate. There are few things about Jim Corbett National Park zones that the visitors need to know about.
- If the visitor wants to do elephant ride so they can only do elephant ride in Birjani and Dhikala Zones.
- If visitors want to visit the Sonanadi zone during daytime then they will have to get the permit from the visitor reception center at Kotdwara.
- Permits for the daytime visit to different zones are available in the official site of Jim Corbett National Park.
- Private vehicles are not allowed there.
- Canteens are available in Dhikala, Bijrani and Gairal zone in other zones kitchen facility is available.
Dhikala zone remains open from Mid-November to mid-June and during monsoon season this zone remains closed. The visitors can enter the Dhikala zone from Dhangari gate. Dhangari gate is located 18 km away from Ramnagar while the tourist complex of Dhikala zone is located 30 km away from the Dhangari gate. The entry timing of Dhikala zone is from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
This zone is located in the Patil Doon area of Jim Corbett National Park and it is the largest area of Corbett National Park. In this zone, large variations of vegetation and organisms are found.
Safari can also be done by Canter in Dhikala zone. Canter has 16 seats and its rent is less as compared to the jeep. If you want to do safari by Canter, you will have to pay at the entrance gate of Dhikala Zone.
The landscape of this region is very beautiful, in which the Sal forest and grassland found which are known as Chaur. Dhikala zone is most popular among all Jim Corbett National Park zones for safari and tourist accommodation. In the Dhikala zone, species of deer such as Spotted Deer, Para, The Sambar, Barking deer are found. The Dhikala zone is the best place in Jim Corbett National Park zones to spot Royal Bengal Tiger and Elephant.
Bijrani zone remains open from 15 October to 30 June and the visitors can do the night stay in this zone from 15 November to 14 June. The visitors can enter the Bijrani zone from Aamdanda gate. Aamdanda gate is located 2 km away from Ramnagar while the Bijrani ecotourism zone is located 5 km away from the Aamdanda gate. The entry timing of Bijrani zone is – Morning Safari – 7:00 am to 10:00 am, Evening safari – 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm.
To see the tiger from 6 safari zones of Corbett National Park, the Bijrani Zone is considered as the best place after the Dhikala Zone. This environment here in this zone is very calm and peaceful. During the winter it is difficult to see the tiger in the Bijarani region, but there are more chances to see the tiger during the summer. This zone is the most beautiful in the Corbett National Park zones, which provides a very beautiful view. Chital, Para or Hod Deer, Sambar, Barking deer, Tiger, wild Elephant, Indian Python, Cobra etc are seen in this zone.
The Jhirna zone remains open throughout the year however sometimes it depends on the weather and road conditions. The visitors can enter the Jhirna Zone from Dhela gate which is located 20 km away from Ramnagar. The entry timing of Jhirna Zone is – Morning Safari – 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., Evening safari – 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Zirna Zone is located at the southern end of Corbett National Park, in Jhirna zone the visitors get to see the tiger and Sloth bears. This zone is mostly covered with green grass and provides a beautiful landscape view of the area. There are also several streams in this zone which is good for the bird watcher. To enter the Jhirna zone the visitor has to obtain safari permits and a safari vehicle along with this the visitors have to hire a guide from the park official.
Durga Devi Zone
Durga Devi Zone in Jim Corbett National Park zones remains open from 15 October to 15 June. The visitors can enter the Durga Devi Zone from Durga Devi gate which is located 28 km away from Ramnagar. This zone is well-connected with the road. The entry timing of Jhirna Zone is – Morning Safari – 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., Evening safari – 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The tourist rest house for the night stay in Durga Devi zone is at Lohachara. Royal Bengal Tiger, Asian Elephant, Spotted Deer, Chital Sambar, Wild Boar, Wild pig, Jackal, Peacock, Rested Kingfisher etc are seen in this zone.
Sonanadi Zone in Jim Corbett National Park zones remains open from 15 October to 15 June. The visitors can enter the Sonanadi Devi Zone from Durga Devi or Kalagarh gate or Vatanvasa. This zone is well-connected with the road from all the gates. The entry timing of Jhirna Zone is – Morning Safari – 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., Evening safari – 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The visitors can enjoy both elephant safari and Jeep safari in Sonanadi Zone of Jim Corbett National park. There are more than 500 species of birds seen here, which is the ideal place for birds watcher. In this area elephants, leopards, tigers etc and some reptiles can be seen.
This is an eco-tourism zone which was opened for tourists in 2014 and remain open throughout the year. The visitors can enter the Dhela zone from Dhela gate which is located 15 km away from Ramnagar.
Royal Bengal Tiger, Asian Elephant, Spotted Deer, Chital, Wild Pig, Jackal, Peacock, Indian Alpine Swift, Woodpecker etc can be seen in Dhela Zone of Jim Corbett National park Zones.
