Kainchi Dham Ashram is also known as Neem Karoli Dham located in Nainital district in the Uttarakhand state of India. Kanchi Dham is an Ashram and Temple of Lord Hanuman Ji. This Dham is gradually taking the form of a pilgrimage site. It is established by Baba Neem Karoli in 1960’s.
This ashram is situated at an altitude of 17oo meters above from sea level on the bank of Shipra River. Neem Karoli Baba Temple or Kainchi Dham Temple both are one. There is no ATM near the temple, so before you start the journey, keep enough cash with you.
History of Kainchi Dham Ashram Temple
On May 24, 1962, Baba Neem Karoli came to this place and on 15th June 1964, the statue of Hanuman was established at this place. This is the reason that a grand fair is organized in this temple on June 15 every year. When Baba Neem Karoli die after that in 1974, the construction of the Kainchi Dham Temple was started, in which all the devotees of Baba collaborated.
Who was Neem Karoli Baba?
Neem Karoli Baba is said to be the incarnation of Hanuman Ji. He had received knowledge only at the age of 17. Earlier, his name was Laxmi Narayan Sharma who was born in a Brahmin house of Akbarpur village of Firozabad district of Uttar Pradesh.
Best time to visit Kainchi Dham Ashram
The devotees can visit Kainchi Dham throughout the year. But the best time to visit the Ashram and Temple is in Summers (in June month). Kainchi Dham weather is pleasant during summer. June is the peak season to visit Kainchi Dham. In order to visit the temple, you may have to stand in the queue. On 15 June a huge Bhandara is also organized by the temple committee.
Because of being located in the elevation, it is very cold in the Dham during the winter. If you are planning to visit Kainchi Dham in winter then carry warm clothes and socks. Due to less crowd during winter, one can easily visit the temple without standing in the queue.
Kainchi Dham Timings
During winter the opening timing of Kainchi Dham is 6 am – 5 pm.
During summers the opening timing of Kainchi Dham is 5 am – 6 pm.
Kainchi Dham Ashram changed the fortune of many Peoples
Steve Jobs the founder of Apple Company came to Kainchi Dham in 1974 with his friend Dan Kottke. But when he reached the Kainchi Dham Ashram, he could not meet Baba Neem Karoli because Baba died on September 11, 1973. But it is claimed that after leaving this ashram, the fortune of Steve Jobs changed.
Mark Zuckerburg also visit Kainchi Dham Ashram. On the advice of Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg came to Kanchi Dham. Mark stayed in this ashram for 2 days.
Among those who followed Baba Neem Karoli, the name of the famous Hollywood actress Julia Roberts is also included. Julia had neither come to the Kainchi Dham Ashram nor had met with Baba Neem Karoli, she had just become a devotee after seeing the picture of Baba.
Krishna Das, formerly known as Jeffrey Kagel is American vocalist who sings Hindu devotional songs. In 1970, Krishna Das was a victim of Depression and Drug. He came to India and met Neem Karoli Baba and then his fortune changed.

First, they have to travel to Kathgodam, from Kathgodam the devotees can reach the temple by bus or taxi.
