Passes in Uttarakhand

The point that connects two places or towns is called the Pass. The passes are usually a narrow space between the mountains. Uttarakhand is a Himalayan state due to which many passes are found here. Passes of Uttarakhand is new and best place for adventure in Uttarakhand.

These passes are found in remote places in Uttarakhand. Some passes also connect India-Nepal and India-Tibet. And international trade is also done between these passes.

Trekking and camping can be possible in some passes. Some of them are just away from the eyes of human beings. These passes are away from the noise of the city and offer an offbeat peace to the mind, which may not be found in some urban life.

Below are some Passes of Uttarakhand

Audin’s Col

Audin’s Col is located in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand located at an elevation of 5,490 meters above sea level. In 1939 John Bicknell Auden discovered this mountain. This is one of India’s most difficult trekking routes and it takes 24-25 days to complete this trek.

Trail’s Pass

This pass connects the Pindari Glacier of Bageshwar to Milam Glacier of Pithoragarh. This pass is located at an elevation of 5300 meters above sea level. This pass is located between two peaks i.e Nanda Devi and Nanda Kot.

Sunderdhunga

The Sundardhunga Pass (Valley of Beautiful Stones) is located in Bageshwar district of Uttarakhand. This pass is situated at an altitude of 4548 meters above sea level.

Lipulekh

Lipulekh Pass is located at an elevation of 5200 meters above sea level. This pass connects India and Tibet. This pass is used by the devotees going to Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.

Sin La

Sin La is a high Himalayan mountain pass in Uttarakhand located at an elevation of 5500 meters above sea level.  This pass is located in the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand. The traveler can see the peak of Kailash Parvat from this pass.

Nama Pass

Nama pass is Located in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand at an elevation of 5200 meters above sea level. It connects the Kuthi and Darma Valley and used to be a busy trade route between India and Tibet.

Mana Pass

Mana Pass is located at an elevation of 5,550 meters above sea level. This pass is situated in Nanda Devi Biosphere Resvior in Chamoli district. This pass connects Uttarakhand, India, and Tibet.

Timli Pass

This pass is located in Dehradun district of Uttarakhand. This pass is a famous picnic spot in Kalsi area of Dehradun.

Muling la Pass

This pass is located in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand at an altitude of 4595 meters above sea level.

Balcha Pass

This pass is located in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand at an altitude of 5400 meters above sea level. This pass connects India with China.

Niti Pass

This pass is located at an elevation of 5080 meters above sea level. This pass lies in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand within Nanda Devi National Park.

Kalindi Pass

Located in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand this pass is situated at an altitude of 5980meters above sea level. This pass also connects Uttarkashi to Chamoli.

Latu Dhura

This Pass lies in  Chamoli district of Uttarakhand.
