These two holy cities i.e Haridwar Rishikesh lie in the Uttarakhand state of India. Haridwar i.e gateway to meet god and Rishikesh is known as the World Yoga Capital. About 225 km from the Delhi. Haridwar Rishikesh is the pride of Uttarakhand. These two holy cities are well connected with major cities of India. There are too many religious, adventurous and educational places to visit in Haridwar and Rishikesh. Places to visit in Haridwar

Surrounded by high mountains from all sides and in the middle Ganga river is flowing, Haridwar is a perfect confluence of natural beauty and faith. The pilgrims who travel to Haridwar Rishikesh should first take bath in Har Ki Pauri.

Har Ki Pauri

This is the holy place where Ganga bath is done. This place is also known ass Brahma Kund. This place is located 2 km far from Haridwar railway station. Surrounded by various big and small temples, this place strengthens the religious beliefs of devotees. This is the place where the droplets of holy nectar fell during the sea churning (Samudra Manthan). Resonant bells in Gangeshwar Mandir, Shri Bhairav Mandir, Bajrangbali Hanuman Temple, Shree Ganga Temple and the praise of Lord Shiva and mother Ganga encourages the devotees to believe in God.



Ganga Aarti

Ganga Aarti is done every morning and evening in  Har Ki Pauri. Aarti on the Ganges coast is considered as the most sacred task of Haridwar. It is good for everyone to see and hear it. The statue of Ganga Mata is brought from Ganga temple to the river bank and thousands of devotees gather in this Aarti. The statue of Ganga Mata on the bank of the river is prepared by decorating it for aarti. Meanwhile, devotees wait for Aarti to begin with great peace. And then the aarti starts with the cheers of Ganga Maa.

Kushavarta Ghat

This Ghat is situated near the Har Ki Pauri. This ghat is also known as Kusha Ghat. Pinddaan is done in this ghat by which the ancestors receive liberation. This place is the penance place of Lord Dattatreya. When Ganga arrived at this place, the Rishi Muni and Dattatreya were doing penance here. The Ganga has taken away the asanas of the sages with them. The asanas started to circulate at this place that is why this place is known as Kushavarta.

Hanuman Mandir

An ancient temple of Hanuman Ji is located near the Kushavarta Ghat. This temple is also known as Hanuman Ghat.

Maya Devi Mandir

Haridwar was also known in ancient times by the name of Mayapuri. According to Garuda Purana, Ayodhya, Mathura, Kashi, Maya, Kanchi, Avantika, Moksha Dayini. That is, Haridwar has its own importance in the ancient Moksha Dayini Sapta Puri of India. Therefore, this ancient temple of Maya Devi remains a symbol of faith. The statue of Mother Chamunda, Mother Kali, and Maa Durga is present in the Maya Devi temple.

This temple was built around Vikrama Samvat in 1876 by the King of Nepal, inspired by Shri Lodhi Raj Shravan Nath Ji. In this temple, Pashupatinath’s Panchamukhi idol is seated. Bhimgoda Kund

This place is located 1.5 km far from Har Ki Pauri. It is said that Mahabali Bhim had flooded the water by hitting his knee at this place in order to kill the thirst for mother Kunti. Ganga water comes in this Kund and hence its name was Bhimgoda.

Kali Mandir

Ancient Kali temple is located on the way to Bhimgoda. This temple was prepared during British rule. The statue of Kali is very beautiful in this temple.

Pawan Dham

After entering this temple, devotees first see the presence of Hanuman Ji. In this very beautiful and tranquil place, there is also the arrangement of stay for travelers.

Swami Vivekanand Park

This place is located near the main highway near Sarvanand Ghat. There is also a huge statue of Shiva in this park. The beauty of this huge statue in the night is even more amazing.

Bharat Mata Mandir

This temple is located in Sapt Sarovar. This temple is a modern building divided into 7 sections. At the bottom of this temple, Bharat Mata is located and on the top Lord Shiva is sitting. In addition, statues of Lord Krishna, Shri Ganesh, Mata Durga, Mother Saraswati, and other goddesses are present in other sections. There is also a lift to go to the upper section of this temple.

Sphatik Mani Shivaling

This temple is located near Bharat Mata Mandir.


Bhooma Niketan

Dwadas Jyotirling

Bilkeshwar Mahadev Temple

This ancient temple is situated between the green forest and the mountain. At this place, Devi Parvati had done penance to get Lord Shiva as her husband. The ancient Gaurikund is located near this temple. The temple of Santoshi Mata is situated on the left side of Bilkeshwar Mahadev Temple. Santoshi Mata temple is also very ancient and it is also known as Lal Mata Mandir.

Chandi Devi Mandir

The temple of Mata Chandi Devi is located on the peak of Nil Mountain on the east side of Ganga. There are 2 ways to go to Chandi Devi Temple – By foot and by trolly. Mata Anjana Devi Temple has located 100 meters away from Chandi Devi Mandir.

Kali Mandir

The ancient Kali temple is located on the way while returning from Chandi Devi. It is said that at this place, 1008 humans were sacrificed in the feet of the mother.

Satyugi Gauri Shankar Mandir

Satyugi Gauri Shankar Temple is located just a short distance from the Kali Temple. It is said that when Lord Shankar was going to the gate of King Daksha, he passed through here with his ghost and demon army.

Nileshwar Mahadev Mandir

This temple is also very important. This is the place from where Lord Shiva saw the Samudra Manthan. The view of this temple is very beautiful. An ancient Shivling is also established in this temple, whose Jalabhishek is beneficial.

Kankhal

In this context of places to visit in Haridwar and Rishikesh the devotees now moves towards the ancient city of Haridwar i.e Kankhal. At one time this city was the capital of King Daksha. 

Daksheshwar Mahadev temple

The Daksheshwar Mahadev temple is also mentioned in Shiv Purana. According to which Lord Shiva’s marriage was concluded with the daughter of King Daksha Prajapati. Lord Shiva’s natural pindi in this mythical temple is very amazing. There is a huge tree in the courtyard of the temple. Shri Paardeshwar Mahadev Mandir

It is another temple of Lord Shiva located in Kankhal, Kankhal. Shivaling in this temple is made from 151 kilograms of pure mercury. There is a tree of Rudraksha in the courtyard of this temple. The pattern of 12 Jyotirlinga has been installed near this tree. Piolet Baba Mandir and Gita Mandir are also located near this temple.

Tilbhandeshwar Mahadev Mandir

Sesame oil is offered in this temple. It is believed that the existing Shivling in this temple looks 15 days bigger and 15 days smaller.

Other tourist places in Haridwar

Rajaji National Park

This National Park extends from Haridwar to Dehradun to Pauri Garhwal districts. Animals like Sambhar, Barking Deer, Nilgai, and Wild Boar etc. can be seen here, although they cannot always be seen in one glance. The main hunter of this park is Tiger and Leopard. Hyena, jackal and Bengal fox are also seen in this park.

Rishikesh is a place which has remained the place of the ascension of the sages. 

Ram Jhula

Ram Jhula is also known as Shivanand Jhula. This Hanging bridge connects one end of the Ganges to the another. The Rameswaram temple is located near this Ram Jhula. The name of Ram Jhula is named after this temple.


Swarg Ashram Baba Kali Kamli

It is said that at this place Baba Kamli took the living Samadhi. The beauty of this place is mind-blowing. The idol of God Vishnu is situated in this ashram. In this ashram, the trees of Rudraksha and Chandan raise the beauty and purity of this place.

Geeta Bhawan

This place is situated on the Ganges bank near Swarg Ashram. Prior to the construction of this building, there are 31000 ram names written notebooks were pressed. At this place, the education of religion is given to travelers.

Parmarth Niketan

This place is the center of immense natural beauty and religious faith. There is a peepal tree at this place, one part of which is holding the shape of Lord Ganesha. Ganga Aarti is done daily at this place in which foreign tourists also participate in this aarti.

Shri Ved Niketan Dham

It is a yoga institute where people are taught yoga, pranayama, and asana. This institution has been established by Shri Yog Samratha Vishwa Guruji Maharaj whose current age is 102 years.

Lakshman Jhula

Lakshman Jhula is situated at a distance of 5 km from Rishikesh. The length of this bridge is about 400 feet.

Trayambakeshwar Mandir

This temple is located near the Lakshman Jhula. The temple is decorated with Dwashash Jyotirlings, provides spiritual happiness to Shiva devotees. This temple is made up of different sections, whose style is beautiful.

Sachha Akhileshwar Mahadev Mandir

It is an ancient temple situated on the Ganges coast. This temple has a Shivling of 20 feet which is the center of attraction.

Kailash Setu Ashram

A very attractive statue of Hanuman Ji is installed in this temple complex.

Triveni Ghat

This Ghat has situated on the banks of river Ganga. The statue built in this ghat is very beautiful and the view of the river Ganges looks very beautiful from here.

Neelkanth Mahadev Mandir

This temple is situated 20 km away from Lakshman Jhula. The Bhubaneswari Mata Temple is also located on the hill above the Nilkanth Mahadev Temple.
