Triyuginarayan Temple

The Triyuginarayan Temple is located near Sonprayag in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. The temple is situated near Sonprayag of Rudraprayag at an altitude of 1920 meters above sea level. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu. This temple is also pronounced as Trijugi Narayan or Tri-Ugi Narayan.

The name of that village is also Triyugi Narayan where this temple is situated. There is a Hawan Kund in the temple premises which has been burning from many ages, hence the name of this temple has been Triyugi. Triyugi means the fire which is burning from three eras. This fire is known as Dhananjaya Agni.

The pilgrims who visit Trijuginarayan also visit Gaurikund. It is believed that couples who marry in this temple spend their marital life happily. In this temple, woods are offered in the Havan Kund in the form of Prashad.

There is a custom in this temple, the names of those coming here are recorded in the Gynecology Register. The Genealogy registers present here have records of more than 100-200 years old.

Triyuginarayan Temple Story

The Trijuginarayan Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva married in this place with Goddess Parvati, daughter of Parvat Raj Himwat. Goddess Parvati had got Shiva with hard penance. Goddess Parvati had done penance in Gaurikund, 5 km from Triyuginarayan. According to the mythological texts, Lord Shiva kept the marriage proposal in front of Parvati in Guptakashi.

In the holy marriage of Lord Shiva and Parvati, Lord Vishnu had followed all manner of folkways as a brother of Devi Parvati, and Brahma Ji became a priest/Pandit Ji in this marriage. The temple complex has two Kunds called Barham Kund and Rudra Kund, the source of these two ponds is the Saraswati Kund. According to the belief Saraswati Kund has originated from the navel of Lord Vishnu.

How to Reach Triyuginarayan Temple by air

The traveler cannot reach directly to the temple by the plane. The nearest airport from Trijuginarayan Temple is Jollygrant airport which is 237 km away. Daily flights are available from Delhi to Jolly Grant Airport. Jollygrant is also well connected with cities like Mumbai and Chandigarh. If you are from any other city in the country, then you can first reach Delhi and then take the flight from Delhi to Dehradun.

After reaching Dehradun you can hire a taxi from Dehradun to reach Trijuginarayan. Taxies are easily available from Dehradun airport taxi stand.

How to Reach Triyuginarayan Temple by train

There is no railway line in Trijuginarayan, Rudraprayag. The nearest railway station from Triyuginarayan is Dehradun railway station which is 262 km away. The railway station is well connected with Mumbai, Delhi, Ghaziabad, Ludhiana etc. After reaching Dehradun traveler can hire a taxi or can travel by public transport which is available from Rispana bridge, Dehradun.

How to Reach Triyuginarayan Temple by road

Direct buses are available from Delhi Kashmiri gate to Rudraprayag. From Dehradun to Rudraprayag taxies are available from Rispana taxi stand Dehradun.

Trijuiginarayan mandir is 12 km far from Sonprayag which is covered by local transport. There is a second hiking route to go to the temple which is 5 km long. This route passes through a bridge 100 meters forward from Sonprayag.
